Varieties of bamboo for the construction of products

Bamboo is a fast growing grass that manufacturers turn into products for construction. Builders use the hollow reeds of the bamboo plant for the construction of bridges, posts and scaffold support. Some producer’s bamboo mill in planks, panels and sheets for floors, walls and ceilings. There are almost 1,000 species of bamboo with different characteristics that make it more or less convenient as a product of construction of each plant.

Sweet bamboo

Sweet bamboo (Phyllostachys delis) grows at a mature height of 40 feet. The reeds and average of 3 inches in diameter. Bamboo shoots sweet buds are weaker than some other plants of the genus. Although sometimes used for construction of products, more typically, carpenters will shape this bamboo in items such as tool handles.

Giada Atlantic

Giada Atlantic (Giada Chacoensis) grows up to 100 feet high. On average, its stems are 6 inches in diameter. Giada Atlantic size and strength are the reason it is suitable for use in construction. It grows in South America.

Tail of bamboo

Tail de Bamboo (Gigantochloa apes) grows on average at 60 feet in height. Their reeds typically grow to diameters of about 4 inches. It has strong and durable stems. According to the cooperative extension service at the University of Hawaii, builders in Java prefer this bamboo and frequently use it for housing construction and bridge construction.

Giant bamboo wood

Giant wood bamboo (Bamboos oldhamii) grows to a maximum height of 55 feet. Sunset magazines notes that this bamboo grows 15 to 25 feet quickly in the initial stages of growth and can reach heights between 20 and 55 feet. The reeds and average of 4 inches in diameter. It has wide and long leaves. The stems are dark green. The relative weakness of the cane means that it is best used only for lightweight constructions.
